Alright, alright, I get it. There is a ton of sales related content all over the web. What right do I have to start another sales blog. Well……not much. Other than I have been in several different sales positions over the last 10 years, and while I still consider myself an amateur with so much more to learn, it has provided me a very comfortable lifestyle. That’s not really my point though. My point is that what I felt most of the content lacks is the reality of sales. The ups and downs, the very low lows, and the super highs, the days where you just want to quit, and the days you couldn’t imagine doing anything else. You won’t make millions of dollars by just showing up and repeating some mantra with a positive attitude –though, attitude is critical and you can make some really good money. It’s also said that it is a stress laden profession where you will be beaten down by both customers and management, and then beaten down some more when you get home for not making enough money –though there can be the occasional proverbial beating, and some days you may go home with less money than desired. Sales is not for the weak of heart. It takes sweat and tears. It takes a desire to better your life, but oh man is it worth the ride! This blog will be dedicated to every person who sells anything, from the hourly salesperson who wants to be recognized and promoted, to the full commission salesperson who must sell to survive. We will look at all the different facets of sales, and even look at some strategies to be better than we were yesterday, while on our pursuit of greatness. I hope you will take this journey with me, as I am convinced we can get there faster together.
